The minutes of the last meeting held on 29 July 2010 were agreed as an accurate record, with thanks to CM, with just two small amendments.
- DH and MS sent apologies retrospectively for not being present at the meeting.
- Rented tables: this was an action for CW and not PD.

Matters Arising from the Meeting on 29 July 2010
Show Schedule Matters
- Outstanding action for SG regarding school/pupil entries.
- A suggestion to include an animal sculpted out of a vegetable in the children’s section was agreed.
- One of the existing categories would be replaced by children colouring in the front cover of the latest News & Views.
Publicity:
- Publicity is going well, with good coverage in the D&S and News & Views. [Thanks to PO and CO.] Also, thanks to Ken for the flyers.

Annual Dinner (Saturday 13 November 2009)
- The Village Society will pay for the speaker’s dinner and his wife’s, plus expenses.
- Thanks to KH for producing and distributing the flyers.
- Raffle tickets to be placed at each place setting.
- Bottles of Chablis and Port are the prizes.
- CO to take along the village books to sell.
- Tickets were distributed for selling (see patches below).
- The speaker on Saturday, 8 October 2011 would be
Maureen Sutcliffe (“The Good Life”).
- Mike Pannett has provisionally agreed to be the speaker for 2012. This should be confirmed at the AGM.

AOB:
AGM:
- PD will confirm the date of Thursday 13 January 2011 with the pub.
- KH will produce the flyers.
- PD will prepare the agenda.
- PD will make a few copies of the proposed Constitution.
- PD will send a copy of the Constitution via e-mail to Lee Huck for uploading onto the website.
- Details of the Constitution being available on-line could be added onto the flyer.
- The flyer should also include a message saying that new Committee members are always welcome.
- PD will arrange “savoury snacks” with the pub for the meeting.
Thornton Gate:
- The Village Society was aware that the planning appeal by the Bells has been submitted. Everyone is encouraged to write again, especially with additional/new points, eg the proposal to change the access at Thiefhole Lane.
Community-Owned Enterprise:
- The Village Society’s attention was drawn to the seminar in Northallerton on 15 November.
Broadband:
- Recent problems with broadband had been reported.
- Expressions of interest are being co-ordinated by Carol Bowes following the recent meeting with NYNet for wireless broadband.
Newcomers/Welcome Packs:
- Welcome packs and village books had recently been distributed to: The Poplars, Braeside and 2 North Riding Rise.
Next Meeting:
- A reminder will be sent out one week prior to the date of the next meeting.
